Description
  • Dengue virus nonstructural protein NS1 interacts with several parts of the complement system. In addition, nonstructural proteins, as well as prM and C, bind factors of the host's type I interferon antiviral response (reviewed in Ramirez & Urcuqui-Inchima, 2015; Cumberworth et al. 2017). The overall picture is known from many expression studies. For general reviews about DENV subversion of innate immunity see Kao et al., 2018; Tremblay et al., 2019; Carr et al., 2020; Kraivong et al., 2021; Pan et al., 2022. DENV also employs various strategies to evade the adaptive immune system, including antigenic variation and inhibition of antigen presentation (reviewed in Lee et al., 2022).
